Method 1: Chrome
- Open the website in Chrome.
- Tap the three-dot menu at the top right.
- Tap Add to Home screen. On some sites the option is called Install app.
- Edit the name and tap Add, then confirm.
If the site is a web app, Chrome installs it and it opens in its own window without the address bar. Otherwise it opens as a normal tab.
Method 2: Samsung Internet and Firefox
- Samsung Internet: tap the menu icon at the bottom, then Add page to, then Home screen.
- Firefox: tap the three-dot menu, then Add to Home screen (it may be under Add app to Home screen on newer versions).
Method 3: A shortcut maker
Browser shortcuts always open in that browser and use the site's own icon, which is sometimes blurry or missing. With TapOpen you pick the name and icon yourself, and the link opens in whatever browser you have set as default.
- Open TapOpen and tap Websites.
- Paste or type the full address, including https://.
- Set a name and pick an icon.
- Add it to the home screen.
This is handy for pages that do not support Add to Home screen well, like a specific report in a web dashboard, a search results page, or a local router admin page such as 192.168.1.1.
